California Music Festival

Fellowship General information
Applications to the California Music Festival are open to musicians of all backgrounds, ages, and nationalities. Selected participants receive a fellowship to join this 1:1 side-by-side program—no tuition or application fee required. Admission is based on audition materials.
The festival will run from June 10th to 20th at Beckmen Hall.
2026 fellowships are available for: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, percussion and conducting.

Application Process
1. Application and recording
– Complete the online application form
– Submit a link to a video of you playing the complete requested repertoire for your instrument through the application form:
Audition Repertoire.
Note: Incomplete recordings will not be accepted. The recording can be made using a phone; however, we strongly encourage applicants to submit the highest-quality recording possible to allow for a more accurate evaluation.
2. Selection Timeline
– Extended and Final Deadline: May 17.
– UPDATE: Audition results by May 19.
– Selected students must submit their fellowship acceptance form by May 21.
If a selected candidate does not accept the fellowship by the deadline, the California Music Society will offer the position to another applicant from the waitlist.
